In this episode, I speak to Liam who has been living with type 1 diabetes for 24 years. Liam is a good friend who I met through the diabetes online community. Our experiences of type 1 in some areas are similar particularly as we both come from single-parent families. Liam and I also discuss his diagnosis story and he was in a coma for 6 weeks, how his upbringing impacted his life with type 1, the struggles that he experienced and his experience of being a dad whilst living with type 1.

Liam's mum also lived with type 1 diabetes from a very young age and very sadly passed away from complications of type 1. Liam's mum helped to change the landscape of type 1 diabetes in the UK.  Liam talks openly about life with his mum. Liam also shares how his experience of multiple DKA's changed how he managed his type 1 diabetes.
