Dec 07, 2020 Season 1 Episode 25
Daniel Newman

In this episode, I speak to Scott. Scott has been living with type 1 diabetes for 21 years.
We talk about all aspects of Scott’s life with type 1 from his school years to his adult life. Scott’s journey is one filled with overcoming denial about type 1 diabetes which thankfully now has changed.

A retinopathy appointment was the catalyst for change for Scott and it led to him joining the Diabetes Online Community. The biggest change for Scott was joining The Diabetes Football Community which was founded by Chris Bright who I spoke to in episode 7 of the podcast so listen to that after this episode. The football team consists of players who all live with type 1 diabetes. This community allowed Scott to represent his country at an international tournament but most importantly allowed him to finally accept his type 1 diabetes.
