In this episode, I speak to Mike Roberson aka GlucoseGang Mike whose been living with type 1 diabetes for over 21 years.
Mike and I talk about a lot in this episode including his dedication to in his own words ‘the journey of hiding his type 1 diabetes’ to finally accepting and embracing the condition. We talk about Mike's experiences of the healthcare system in the USA including access to insulin and the serious topic of rationing insulin. We also talk about how type 1 diabetes helped Mike find his purpose including creating Glucose Gang, the impact type 1 diabetes has had on his identity including his view on masculinity, and the importance of men talking about their mental health with a professional where we both share our personal experiences.
